Decorum in discourses

By Lamin Darboe, UK

Many like me a are put-off by the putrid and punster language use by your puff-up contributor in the person of Mr Sankanu. He might be a brilliant and a passionate jester but the imoral and amorous language that characterize his dicourses is unforgivingly disparaging and should not be encourage in this medium.

We need sober contributors with penchant for decorum,  people with mature and constructive ideas geared to foster comprehension of national challenges and opportunities. There is a silent majority who surpass in every discipline, skills or achievement for that matter and are shy and humble in the way they conduct themselves in  public and private. They are people of substance and calibre, eschew self ornamentation and parading of achievements as that is the protocol of arrogance.

People have different barometers in measuring success; to some is business success, some wealth, some academic accomplishment and many other good job and career. But to many others these mundane achievement is at best illusional and ephemeral as you spend your whole life and time trying to guard them to maintain and preserve your standard of living. You guard material but knowledge guard you. A knowledge that will benefit a person in this world and hereafter, for any knowledge that will propel a person into the realm of pride and arrogance will surely land him into hell if he/she did not change his ways. That's why our holy book always address people with God conciousness and sobriety. This is because it is our creator who knows best He who is upright (better than the rest people), and chose to calibrate success by His mercy; and verily successful are those who will enter paradise.Vagaries of life itself negate harnessing success to situational accomplishment like good business ownership or a fat bank balance.

The situation can change by your health, calamities(e.g recent chinese earth quake) or death which can happen any time. Losers today can be winners tommorow and verse versa; those laugthing yesterday are wailing today, this is the vicissitude of life.

Finally no one is completely all-skilled, I am a chartered certidfed accountant by profession but a I need a carpenter to fix my door, or electrician to do my electric problems, I will be foolish to assume he is loser by virtue of his trade.Pessimists are those who expect the worst in all propositions, but realist are sober and discerning abd hadly patake in orgy of accomplishment.

Please Pa your medium should encourage decorum, gentlemanliness and perspicacity in all discourses. Freedom of speech is not license to impudence and character assasination Thanks Lamin DarboeLeicester UK
