THE TRUE STORY ABOUT MUSA MBOOB!!!

….OC COX CALLS HAMMADI A PARTNER IN DEVELOPMENT

By OC Cox, Banjul Police Head Quarters

 Dear Editor,

I wish to humbly clarify some of the issues raised by Hammadi Massinah in relation to Musa Mboob's alleged link to the killing of the late Ousman Sanneh. It could be recalled that Musa Mboob was the Regional Police Commissioner in North Bank Region based in Kerewan between 2002-2003 and later deployed to the Police Headquarters as Commissioner for Banjul and Operations respectively. Within six months, he was appointment Director General of the Immigration,  replacing Tamsir Jasseh. This was during the tenure of 13 Badjie. Musa excelled well at the Immigration and he changed the face of this department by motivating the staff by promoting them and he even created the positions of Commissioners of Immigration and several other positions. Musa will promote his staff every six months. Some police officers opted for transfers to the immigration due to the continues promotions there.

When 13 Badjie was sacked in 2004 and Ousman Sonko came in, his relationship with Musa became soar ,because Sonko believed that Musa was going too far by competing the Police. Sonko immediately demanded that Musa must report to him and Musa also felt that he is Service Chief like Sonko. Their relationship became bad and they stopped talking to one and other. The then Minister Baboucarr Jatta, his permanent Secretary Momodou Njie call all of them for a dialogue and they compromised and shook hands.

Earlier, Musa boycotted the Volley games that was always held at the Police Intervention base in Kanifing every Wednesday. Musa is  active in sports. After the reconciliation between Sonko and Mboob, they resumed cooperation and Musa starting attending all events.

Sonko was appointed Minister and Musa appointed IGP.Abu Njie was Sonko's deputy and Ousman Sanneh was the Commissioner for Operations. Sonko decided to sideline Abu Njie and he was dealing directly with Ousman Sanneh by passing his deputy, Abu. Abu has no choice, but to resign from the Police. The day Abu tendered his resignation, that was the very day Sanneh was appointed as Deputy IGP.

Musa Mboob reported to the Police Headquarters on that faithful Friday accompanied by Sonko to meet the Seniors. At that moment, Musa became suspicious of the relationship between Sanneh and Sonko. Ousman Sonko had wanted Sanneh to succeed him as IGP, but to his dismay, the president appointed Musa Mboob as IGP.

Musa became more and more worried having Sanneh as his Deputy and knowing Sonko's close ties with him, Musa gave them both an arms length. He decided not to deal with Sanneh as his Deputy. Sonko be came furious and the situation escalated further. All along, Sanneh was sick and this situation made his sickness worst and again exacerbated his illness.

This led to the appointment of Mamour Jobe who was the commissioner in Western Division to become the CMC of the Police by Musa. Mamour became the right hand man of Musa Mboob running the Police, whilst Sanneh was redundant in an empty office.

Sanneh was subsequently admitted in hospital when situation became worst. He died later and the Jola officers converged to the army headquarters and complained to LANG TOMBONG that Musa was behind the death of Sanneh. I was at Sanneh's funeral in Brikama and during the congregation, Musa was present and he was ridiculed by some Jola Officers accusing him of causing Sanneh's death. Guess what? before Sanneh's seven days charity, Musa was giving the sack and Bem Jammeh was appointed!

I believe this narration will give Hammadi Massinah a true picture of what Mua is accused of. I am a living witness to  all these happening. Musa is a fine Police Officer and during his short time as IGP, he has done well and his plans were as good as that ones he did for the Immigration.

I am want to put records straight by mentioning that Musa was plotted by the Jola officers through Lang Tombomg to get rid of Musa Mboob from the Police.

All these will be narrated one day. Massinah should be rest assured that none other than the Jola officers linked Musa to Sanneh's death. I spoke to several of them and all that they tell was that ' If we are ready, Musa will know'.Ask any who was at the funeral in Brikama.

Musa Mboob is an excellent officer and there is  no doubt  that he was framed by a small group of disgruntled  people with the help of Lang Tombong. I believe Hammadi Massinah will understand that we have a common goal by exposing the regime's hidden agenda. All the allegations and counter accusations happened in my presence and let me make it clear that if the Police were a football field, I am always at the center circle. True, Musa was wrongfully accused of killing Ousman Sanneh.

Let me reveal this, when Sanneh fell sick and his conditions became worst, some Jola Officers said that he  Musa Mboob who gave him 'ataya' to drink through one Lang Fofana, an electrician, whose only job is brewing 'ataya' for the senior officers. Everyone  who knows Sanneh will attest that he used to like 'ATAYA' more than Mutarr Ould Dada of Mauritania. So these officers attributed Sanneh's death to drinking that ataya as ordered by Musa Mboob. Musa is a respectable  man as Hammadi puts it and when he knows you, He will always call you ' Father' or BRO.

To put it straight, Musa sort permission from Ousman Sonko after the attempted travel to Dakar for a seminar, which sonko acknowledged and surprisingly for him, when he arrived at the Barra Ferry Terminal, he was humiliated by officers of  the State Guard, putting him in sac…. and beating him up mercilessly. He was taken straight to the NIA. I personally called Ousman and told him of the incident and of Musa's manhandling by the Soldiers at Barra. All that Sonko told me was that ' it was not his business'.

He was released after few days and he resumed work. Jammeh was embarrassed of this situation and he finally appointed him as IGP of the Police Force as he appointed Sonko as Minister of the Interior.

Musa is currently in the US and let any one ask him off the record  of what really happened and if denies any of the above statements above, I will commit suicide by surrendering my self to the State House and reveal my true identity. There is no doubts that Musa Mboob is an extrovert person, who has no ill feelings even for his enemies,  he is full of energy and excitements all the time. he was indeed in an extricate situation as IGP.  Still, the Jola officers are boasting of the fact that they succeeded in getting rid of Musa Mboob and one among them is Supt Bakary Sanneh, elder brother to the late Ousman Sanneh. He told me personally that they went to Lang Tombong and requested that Musa should be dismissed from the Force for killing Ousman Sanneh. Musa Mboob went to Brikama to attend a function that faithful day and on arrival to the Police Headquarters, he was served with his marching orders, whilst Ben was waiting.

I think Hammadi Massinah will understand that we do not intend to tarnish the good image of Musa Mboob by linking him to the death of  Ousman Sanneh,,but the reason why he was dismissed as Inspector General of Police was this. Some of us may not but this is the truth and nothing but the truth.

We are still around in Banjul following every development and when the  day of accountability comes, we will know one another.
