GPA BECOMES A GHOST PORTS!!!

By Musa Jobe, Banjul,

If the reports coming from the Gambia Ports Authority, GPA, is any guide, Gambians can then brace up for more turbulent economic phase.
At the time when the average Gambian contiues to groan under harsh economic conditions, reports from GPA, suggesting an impending rice and flour shortage would not come to the poverty wary Gambians as a pleasing news.
Sources in the corridors of GPA have hinted this medium that vessels, transporting rice and flour to the West African state are no more coming as usual and that if the trend continues as it is, rice and flour shortage will be inevitable.
" It is now a rare occurence to see rice-carrying vessels docking here. The situation have been persisting for sometime with no end in sight," said a highly-placed GPA source.
A shortage in rice, the staple food of Gambia, will unleash untold suffering to a population of more than one million with the man in the street living on less than two dollars a day.
But the Gambian President have stressed that it doesn't bother him at all even if the bag of rice rise to D1000. Currently, a bag of rice costs D850.
