JAMMEH IS A DAMN LIAR!!!
….Gambian Newspapers A Disservice To The Country- A Case Study
“ Stories matter, and matter deeply because they are the best way to save our lives.” Frank McConnell

Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh is a damn liar. A pathological liar for that matter. Jammeh’s lies is becoming unbearable. Gambians are tied of his lies. Enough is enough!!! He has long been lying about mineral discovery in The Gambia, when there is no such thing. Do we hear Jammeh announcing the presence of iron in our shores? What about the oil discovery he made years back? How about the gold discovery? When will the long awaited mining start? After Jammeh’s demise? When will this sick and retarded President stop his day dreaming?
Instead of trying to find a lasting solution to the nation’s economic woes, Jammeh is feeding our people with false promises and hope. Jammeh is good at making false discoveries, without proofs.
The Gambian people are hungry at this hour. They are not interested about an iron discovery. What they need right now, is a responsible Government, which is responsive to their needs and aspirations.
We do not need a President, whose preoccupation is to make blatant lies, just to further cling onto power. We do not need a President, who is insensitive to the suffering masses. We do not need a mentally challenged President, who never scans or filters his words before opening his dirty mouth.
Today, the average Gambian is concerned about survival. The country’s inflation is threatening the lives of Gambians. Few families can afford a bag of rice these days.
Yes, there are beautiful structures within The Greater Banjul area, but what’s the rational behind having nice houses, when 90 percent of our population are starving? How many Gambian kids are going to bed hungry on a daily basis? How many sick people are dying as a result of lack hospital fees? How many students are dropping out of school as a result of lack of school fees? What about Jammeh’s false free education for girls? Does this Government bother to find out the girls school dropout ratio? What is the Government doing to make education accessible and affordable for our people?
A country’s development is not measured by the amount of white elephant projects it has, but the degree of political freedoms and awareness. An ignorant population, is an underdeveloped country.
The Gambia President should quit his foolishness and be more responsive to the needs and aspirations of poverty stricken Gambians. He as our President, owe an obligation to The Gambian Community by ensuring that his Government lives to the expectations of Gambians.
A serious and responsible President would have been concerned about the looming hunger crisis befalling this nation. He could have engaged the private sector into a meeting to consider importing more rice and flour into this country.
Based on the feedbacks, we received from our Correspondents on the ground, there is bound to be rice shortage in days to come. Port officials have even confirmed this to the Freedom Newspaper.
To avoid crisis situation, the Government should chart way forward to address the problem than making false hopes to Gambians. The discovery of iron in The Gambia, will no way change the current economic hardship our people are going through.
Regrettably, Gambia’s private media, with the exception of Foroyaa are doing disservice to this country. Majority of their stories are geared towards appeasing the powers that be.
Majority of their stories are one sided and slanted. Fallacy becomes the order of the day!! It’s more of playing a Government PR job, than practicing real journalism in essence.
When editors shared internal editorial files with outside parties, the credibility of that particular news outlet is questionable. You either be pro-Government or an independent media outlet. There is too much double standards in Gambian journalism today.
Editors are expected to protect their reporters and not to abandon them when the sea got rough. The so called old guard ought to know better. Our poor reporters have long been taken for a ride.
Ebrima Chief Manneh was reported by his own Editor to the NIA. There are other journalists at this hour threatened by their employer(s) for merely being suspected of having ties with the Freedom Newspaper. This particular Newspaper in Banjul perceives the Freedom Newspaper as a competitor and not a partner in development. These shameless editors are stooping too low to frame their own workers.
We sometimes wonder if these so called editor(s) cared about the wellbeing of their reporters. We do not want to see another killing of journalist in The Gambia.
The so called editor(s) dine with the NIA, at the same time trying to get their workers killed. Gambians should be wary of such poisonous editors. Deyda Hydara must be crying at his grave. His legacy is being betrayed by the very people, who are trying to appease his killers.
Finally, we call on the Gambian media to remain independent and refused to be used for political reasons. A true and vibrant media is expected to be sensitive to the plight of the suffering masses. Your amount of coverage should not be confined to Government propaganda, but to the oppressed masses. What we need is alternative voices and not a media hijacked by the state. What a disservice to The Gambian population????
Looking at some of their stories, one is compelled to reason if objective journalism is being practiced these days in The Gambia. Their stories are not only scanty, but biased in the way of presentation. Fallacy becomes the order of the day. These are not serious Newspapers. In short, call them gutter press!!
