Ambassador Sey In Politics With Full Force!!!

Our political party and steps:Manifesto,Funds and Platform.

By Essa Bokarr Sey.

Sometime ago during an interview I conducted with editor Pa Nderry Mbai I was "tickled" to expose the readiness to form a political party. This idea is still alive and being diagnosed at length within and without my immediate circle of activities.
So far so good. Like any other aspect in life this saying means something for developers. That is "Every journey starts with a step". Indeed every journey has its own challenges and hurdles as well. That being the case determination wins a battle.

STEP ONE-Manifesto:Currently am consulting with people whom I believe have a lot to offer along these lines. It will include exchanging notes, ideas and suggestions with Gambian citizens and non Gambians who share a similar perspective, per the platform or basic themes to be outlined in the manifesto. Along the way,meetings,e-conferences or any other method that can help converge these ideas together will be used to the best of the would-be campaign committees ability. Before releasing the manifesto for public consumption there will be an intellectual blue print which will highlight the aims and objectives of the party as new comers on the political arena of The Gambia. That blue print together with other ideas alongside will end up constituting the said manifesto. Afterwards those copies will be edited then submitted for publication at certain publishing houses in the USA,Dakar,France or Eastern Europe depending on which way makes it more reasonable for the party as far as cost effective approaches are concerned.

STEP TWO-Funds:As the latter is so important in any venture this party will exploit every possible avenue to get funds from sympathisers, supporters, fans and any institution, community or people who see value in what the party intends to do for its people back home. The strategy to be used when raise funds will without any doubt bear in mind the need to be doing things within a legal perspective. The immediate circle of the party will be composed of people in The Gambia, the USA, likewise those in other parts of the world.

STEP THREE-Platform:bearing in mind the existing political climate on the ground, we have already have identified legal experts who will be "fierce" towards any unneccessary obstacles within The Gambia. If some members of the party do not feel secure running successful campaigns on the ground we will not be selfish. That means all existing means (political and financial) will then be ushered inside the country thus support any flag bearer who is deemed fit to accomplish this democratic mission. Forming a political party is the opposite of subversion therefore the reason why some matured intellectuals are ready to join the ranks right from this hour when the party is at it's embryonic stage. Before thinking about campaigns ours will be to start a new approach. That is to say, blending cultural values with political strategies. We will be approaching seasoned politicians who were there well before today aprticularly people who ran campaigns during the PPP/UP days. We must understand the difference between running successful campaigns and other political achievements. Right now we are going to tap into the good sides of seasoned gurus thus enable us understand the terrain much better. Here we are talking about people and society that being the case one has to listen to those who have been hearing these people and feeling the pulse of that society from 1965 to date. This approach will also be equally placed before the eyes of others who are young yet still can educate us a lot along the perimeters of political standards and values. We will not hesitate taking in any idea from anyone at anytime along the way. The time frame of forming and starting live activities of this party within and without The Gambia cannot be estimated for now. We are not rushing it. We want to "be slow but sure". We do not want to "go fast and crash".
It is obvious that some of us are out of The Gambia. We also are aware of the fact that there are clauses within our constitution. Some of them have categorically made reference certain aspects like how long one needs to be in The Gambia in order to be eligible. That is, before running for office. We are also not dreaming of seeing a level playing ground therefore are ready to resist anything adverse that is meant to intimidate our party officials where and when the need arises. When push comes to shove the incumbent will rediscover the meaning of determination in our hearts and minds. All we want is to use democracy and change things therefore why should any party like this one being "groomed" not be given the chance before the eyes of other contenders like the incumbent?
We will be updating the people of our land and those who are friends of The Gambia on every step, as and when any new development is realized. Transparency is a challenge for any person or group of people who wish to be given the responsibility of serving the public.
Our party's immediate circle will of course include Gambians and non Gambians. Ours shall embed principles that are based on mutual respect for all and the rule of law. Indeed this will help avoid discriminating against people because of origin, race, gender and religion.
We have a destiny with the future, therefore, we should clean the rooms(our hearts and minds)before reaching the rendez-vous point. Lastly the party has no registered name yet. When it does it will be made public. As this is not leader-centered party we are brainstorming to come up with a name that will be produced by different brains.

Yours
