EDITORIAL: Nigerian Named In A Detroit Terror Attack
… Why The US Should Watch Palestine Investors In Gambia
Africa is vulnerable to terrorist groups largely due to its increasing poverty and official corruption. The continent is also struggling with instability-giving free pass to terrorist groups to pursue their hate agenda against the West. The terrorists posed as investors-but in reality they are not.
We sometime wonder why Islamic extremists are hateful against freedom loving nations like the United States. America is one of the most peaceful loving nations that one can find on the face of the earth. Enemies of freedom are hell bent on undermining United States’ much “cherished peace and values” in the name of terrorism. Terrorism in all its form is illegal and unislamic. Those perpetrating terror in the name of Islam are criminals and should be punished accordingly. Islam does not promote, or propagate violence. The recent terror attack on the Northwest airlines by a Nigerian National should be condemned by all freedom loving nations. Imagine the type of destruction to life and property that were posed to be caused by the senseless attack , if it were not the timely intervention of the passengers.

EDITORIAL: Only Coup Can Salvage The Gambia
Country’s Budget Depicts About A Scary And Unstable Future
How Jammeh And His Mafia Group Destroyed The Gambia
Gambians should start bracing up for a difficult year. The 2010 budget recently presented in Parliament by Finance Minister Abdou Kolley, hinted about a major economic hardship, characterized by political uncertainties. Taxes would go up, while there is no hope for job opportunities, investment, and decent wages for Government workers. Our country’s future is indeed bleak. We are likely to witness a major political and economic unrest in months to come. There is no way that our poverty stricken citizens would withstand the looming hunger about to hit our country. In the absence of jobs, decent living, food, and Medicare there is bound to be instability. Gambia’s budget for 2010, does not guarantee its citizens the above mentioned necessities. The budget depicts about a “bankrupt” regime, which is seemingly running out of human and financial resources to manage the affairs of the nation. The 2010 budget also signals about worst days ahead for Gambian tax payers.

With price of sugar skyrocketing, Gambia Government Under Fire Again
As businessmen urge cut on custom tariffs
By Staff Reporter James Jammeh, Banjul
In the face of heightened consumer outcry over soaring costs of basic and essential commodities, with prices of commodities like sugar sky-rocketing by the day, Freedom has conducted a series of interviews in an effort to verify information we have, in our bid to establish what is responsible for the worrying trend. Discussing with key business people on the ground in Gambia, this paper was able to establish a shocking unanimity in their views and call for the Gambia government to cut down Custom and Import charges on such basic commodities. Although businesses aren't blaming government entirely for the situation, they think the latter can do something to ameliorate the ensuing domestic burden on Gambians.
