May I swiftly come to the defence of the Editors of The Freedom Newspaper.It disturbs me and confuses me that Professor Kari Kari of The Media Foundation for West Africa {MFWA} , should word such a communication so surreptitiously towards this honourable Newspaper. Any fair minded observer to the growing status of online debate, would accept that to censor public opinion in any form,dissudes the right of freedom of expression from every disenfranchised member of society.The online forum accepts that contributions taken,are not only from those with skills emanating from Journalistic experience,but also from ordinary members of society, from diverse backgrounds,who are encouraged to express opinion.

The list below was forwarded by anonymous sources in the heart of the Jammeh Government. These people shared the same ethnic group with The Gambian President. Jammeh is hiring his own tribe men and women into key Government positions. Tribes such as Mandingkas, Fullas and Wollofs are being discriminated. Dear Editor,

We find your report on Yahya Dampha disappointing and disturbing because it is factually incorrect. While the MFWA continues to work for the safety of persecuted journalists from The Gambia and elsewhere, we have not directly been involved or assisted Mr. Dampha in moving from anywhere to Ghana or any other country.

We would like to request the Freedom Newspaper to strive to be accurate.
Such erroneous publications do harm to the work to defend victims of rights
abuses. Misrepresentations of this kind rather aid the repressive machinery
of governments like President Yahya Jammeh's in The Gambia.

If the Freedom Newspaper wants to support the fight for freedom in The
Gambia it must first insist on the truth at all times.

We kindly request you to disseminate the correction as widely as you have
circulated the false report.

Editors note: We deeply regret for any discomfort the said story might have caused to your organization and other parties involved. Our source mistaken Yahya Dampha with Pa Ousman Darboe. It was Mr. Darboe who arrived in New York and not Yahya Dampha. To err is human and we therefore apologize for any discomfort caused by the said story.

The Freedom Newspaper is committed in reporting the truth and nothing but the truth. We strongly disagree with your erroneous perception about the Freedom Newspaper. This paper will never depart from its mission statement.

The said story was reported in good faith without malice or ill-will. Our patriotism and commitment towards Gambia’s liberation cannot be questioned because we always adhered to the highest ethics of journalism.

The case of a mistaken identity, is not sufficient ground to chastise us. We stood by our sources. It was the Media Foundation who helped Ousman Darboe to settle into the United States. We said this without any remorse.

Based on the information we gathered, Yahya Dampha is said to be in Sweden and not in the US.

We have high regard for professor Karikari, but the truth be told this statement is least to be desired. We have not committed any crime to warrant such misjudgments and misleading conclusions.

You demanded a retraction for the story, without telling us the true side of the story. If you want to correct us, you need to report the true side of the story. When you sent in rejoinders, you need to back up your assertions with factual arguments and not mere insinuations.

The media should be accountable to the public at all times. What’s wrong with reporting the resettlement of Yahya Dampha or Ousman Darboe? What threat have we committed by exposing the story? Are these people for real?

Finally, we want to assure the Media Foundation that the Freedom Newspaper is committed in Gambia’s liberation. This paper is here for all and sundry. No outside party can dictate to us how to run the Freedom Newspaper. Thanks for your attention.

Just to help you. It was not Yahya Dampha, it was Ousman Darboe instead. The former observer reporter who testified on behalf of MFWA in the chief manneh trial in Nigeria because he was an eye witness to the arrest. Just to help you. I know you didn't mean ill intentions for Yaya Dampha, it's just that your source did not inform you fully. So it is indeed Ousman who had been in Ghana since late last year with his wife and twin babies.

Pa, i read your Lamarana Jallow file on Hon Hamat Bah making wild allegations about fraudulent visa, tribalism and being a security threat inter alia.What srike me in the first place is, the reporter in line five. I am back online with damning revelations against the President Yahya Jammeh. Today, I want to share disturbing intelligence report with The Gambian population. Waa Juwara has been briefing us about the activities of Hamat Bah. The President, Lang Tombong Tamba and myself had a meeting about what needs to be done. Hamat Bah should watch his back because there are sinister plans reached to implicate him. The President wants Lang to use certain men of the jungullars to deal with him. Waa Juwara has informed us that Hamat Bah wants to incite ethnic violence in The Gambia. He has also informed us that Bah has been preaching tribalism in the country. Juwara also told the President that unless Hamat Bah is cowed there cannot be peace in the country.

The latest venom from Yahya Jammeh confirms whispers that were around him all these years. Its been a while now people close to President Jammeh have been spiraling all sorts of whispers about what he said regarding the Gambian Fulani tribe. Jammeh during one of his sessions at his zoo confessed what a marabout told him about the Fulani ethnic group. He said the marabout revealed a dream to him, in which he saw a calabash full of milk in the middle of the state house yard. This according to the marabout means Jammeh will be replaced by a Fulani.
