President Says Gambian Men are Bunch Of Lazy And Useless People, As He Urges Gambians To Quit Bantabas

Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh has warned Gambian men to quit the Bantabas and engaged in worthwhile ventures that would bring economic prosperity for the impoverished West Africa nation. Addressing jubilant party supporters in the town of Farafenni, President Jammeh expresses dissatisfaction about the lazy attitude of some Gambian men, who according to the President “spent most of their precious time in Bantabas doing anything worthwhile.” The President who is on his meet the people’s tour calls on Gambian men to go back to the land and farm. He says many men are being taken care of by their wives in rural and urban Gambia. This lazy attitude said the president must end if we are interested in economic and political prosperity.

Eventful days or eventful moments. In wolof there is what we call:"gatsah" the terminolgy reserved for offenders of offense. The big question today is,"Gatsah" against who? My ear drums are being pounded again by roaring hearts! Nothing new here,it is old stuff. Those hard hearts that always predict within verdicts of assumption. Assumption does not judge it speculates,rotates then fumbles in a dark tunnel of endless 'coated-whispers'! Catching captions!!? Catching captives!!? How can a seasoned grammarian express him or herself this way!!!? How!!!? Damn this endless and meaningless noise! A talker,saying something like "catching captives"?

Drama unfolded at the Daily Observer premises Thursday, as the paper’s Managing Director was mercilessly beaten by an angry mob. Dida Halaki who was in a state of coma, was the target for a mob justice. Our correspondent who witnessed the incident said Halaki was beaten on Thursday in front of  the Observer premises by passersby. His clothes were torn into pieces, as he struggled to escape from his attackers. No reason has been advanced for the attack, which left Halaki in a state of fear and anxiety.
