ikpalaTwo Nigerian High Court Judges Have Decided Not Renew Their Contracts At Month End!
Two Nigerian High court judges have decided not to renew their contracts and are due to leave Banjul for Nigeria at the end of the Month, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Justice Ikpala and Justice Amadi, both judges of the High Court, will no longer sit in The Gambian bench, as the duo have call it quit with the judiciary.

The judges are seemingly frustrated by the state of affairs at the judiciary. The newly Jammeh’s handpicked Chief Justice, a former University of The Gambia lecturer, is not getting along with some old guard members of the bench. The CJ’S competence and independence is being questioned in some circles within the judiciary. He was appointed by the dictator to head the judiciary, following the expulsion of the former Pakistani born CJ Ali.

Ikpala and Amadi have decided not to renew their contracts for some obvious reasons. But sources close to the CJ’S office said the Nigerian judges have informed the regime about their desire not to renew their contracts.

Both Ikpala and Amadi could not be reached for comment. The CJ too was indisposed for comment at the time of going to press.
