Someone prominent and highly placed in the Jammeh government is about to be fired, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. She is no other person other than Vice Isatou Njie Saidy. Her relationship with the dictator is somehow strained. Jammeh has started snubbing Isatou for reasons best known to him.

The VP is increasingly concerned about the latest Jammeh snub against her. She has consulted her grand marabouts to offer prayers for her so that she could be in Jammeh’s good books. The snub has been going on for the past four days.

A close aide of Yahya Jammeh told this paper that Jammeh has intimated to them that he doesn’t want to see Isatou Njie Saidy. He branded Isatou as a “bad person” who contributed towards his government’s failure. Jammeh told his aides that he is going to replace Isatou Njie Saidy.

The good news is that: Isatou Njie Saidy’s job has been saved for the mere publication of this report. Jammeh is going to defer her firing because he doesn’t want to legitimize the Freedom Newspaper publication. But the bottom line is that: The relationship between the two is not cordial at this hour.

Isatou Njie Saidy, has been the longest serving Gambian Vice President—dating back the First Republic under Jawara’s leadership. She survived numerous cabinet reshuffles since the advent of the twenty one year old Jammeh regime.

Unless Jammeh rescinds his planned move to let go Isatou Njie Saidy, reports have it that among the names being floated around for Isatou’s possible replacement includes Sussan Waffa Ogoo, the former Foreign Minister. Sussan was among the first Ministers appointed back in July of 1994, when Jammeh and his colleagues seized power from former President Jawara. She served as Tourism Minister for some time before she was recycled into the Foreign Service.

It would be recalled that Isatou Njie Saidy and Yankuba Colley recently pleaded with Jammeh, when the dictator hinted about his upcoming plans to relinquish power. Both Ms. Njie Saidy and Mr. Colley were opposed to Jammeh quitting the Presidency.  Now, Isatou Njie Saidy has been snubbed by her dictator buddy.  Jammeh is scouting for her replacement.
