The detained NIA attache at The Gambian Embassy in Senegal, has been released from police custody, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal.  The detainee Gibril, was held for three days by the Senegalese police after he was accused of spying at The Gambian protesters in Senegal. No charges have been filed against him. He was being treated as a diplomat.

The Gambian Ambassador was present at the time of Gibril’s release from custody. Sources said the Senegalese police couldn’t press charges against the NIA agent since he is enjoying diplomatic immunity. Senegal could expel him if they so desires, said our source. Senegal can only expel him under the circumstances if they want, but I seriously doubt that, our source added.

There is strong NIA presence in Dakar. The Jammeh government has intensified its spying network around the world.
