Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation in the Islamic Republic of the Gambia has been officially opened, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The Consulate is situated along the busy Kairaba Avenue, just next to the Butchers restaurant.
Mr. Momodou Lamin Manga is the Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation in The Gambia. Mr. Manga said in a statement shortly after the commissioning of the Consulate that “the opening of the office is a clear indication of strong ties between Moscow and Banjul. The two countries have enjoyed fruitful relations over the past 50 years, and there is a lot in the pipeline to cement ties.”
According to Mr. Manga “Many Gambians have had the opportunity to study in Russia and I am pleased to reveal two Gambian students will benefit from scholarships offered for the next academic year. There are many areas of interest and cooperation being undertaken by the two governments which should bring its people closer.”
Mr. Manga is urging Gambian students studying in Russia, to forward their email or contact information to his office. This he said, would help the Consulate to update its database of Gambian students studying in Russia.
