She is being falsely detained by the state. Her only perceived crime was allowing a colleague of her to use her private car hours before the APRC political bureau in Kanifing was set ablaze by unknown arsonists. Soldier Jarrie Badjie, is member of dictator Yahya Jammeh’s plain clothe officers. She has been under state custody for over week now—without been avail with the right to bail or lawyer.
There is no concrete evidence linking her to the incident. She is being accused of accessory after the fact. Her co accused person soldier Sheriff Sanyang is on the run. Sheriff is at large. Sheriff was said to have been driving Jarrie’s car on the day in question.
Freedom Newspaper investigations have revealed that Sheriff Sanyang, is the younger brother of Lieutenant Colonel Baboucarr Sanyang. Colonel Sanyang once served as Camp Commander at the Yundum barracks. He also worked at the Kanilai garrison before he was moved from the Jammeh villa.
Meanwhile, some former army officers have been held by the state. Their arrest followed the arson attack on the APRC bureau in Kanifing. None of the detainees have been charged yet.
