The detained Kombo Central Independent MP Buba Ayi Sanneh, has been released from NIA custody, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Mr. Sanneh was abducted from his Brikama home some couple of weeks ago. He has since went missing. He briefly appeared on GRTS, following Freedom Newspaper’s publication that the MP was abducted by the jungullars. In order to downplay the story, the state decided to bring the MP before the state television to discuss issues of family land dispute among others.
A source who reached us this morning said: “Pa, Buba Ayi Sanneh, has finally reunited with his family three hours ago. No charges have been filed against him. He was released as a free man. He is back home.”
MP Buba Ayi Sanneh could not be reached for immediate comment. But sources close to the MP said Mr. Sanneh is in high spirit and is determined to continue with his political activism.
Buba Ayi Sanneh, has suffered an untold persecution in the hands of Yahya Jammeh’s thugs. This is not the first time that Mr. Sanneh has been detained. Sanneh is widely loved and adored in Kombo Central. He represents the Youths’ interest, sources said.
There has been repeated attempts made by the regime to cow Sanneh into silence or political oblivion, but without much success. Sanneh is still relevant and he continues to command a huge support base in Kombo Central.
It would be recalled that during the period of his detention, some state agents reportedly vandalized Buba’s private car. The car windows were completely battered during the attack. One of Buba’s neighbors, who was updating the Foroyaa Newspaper with information about the MP’S case was forced into exile by the State. He is currently residing in Senegal.
