“I am not sponsored neither by Jammeh or Bokoharam. These rumours are false, baseless and unfounded, tantamount to undermine my support base,” Mama Kandeh said during a weekend rally in Sanchaba Sulay Jobe. Mamma Kandeh, the GDC leader held his first meeting on Wednesday in Sanchaba Sulay Jobe, Bundung Borehold, Fajikunda and Mandinary respectively.
Mr. Kandeh said rumors going in town about him being sponsored by President Jammeh were not true.
“My party GDC has come to unify and salvage Gambians,” he said.
“I invite everybody to join my party. I am urging my supporters not to attack the convoy of the coalition,” he advised.
Mr. Kandeh has promised to improve the economy, and the country’s healthcare if voted into office.
“If I am elected, I will improve the health service and introduce health insurance,” he said.
He further said healthcare “under my regime will be more reliable and affordable and acceptable.”
“I will also improve the country’s agriculture and energy sector; create more jobs for the youths. I advise Gambians to desist from tribe politics, maintain peace and stability, promote tolerance and love,” he added.
Mr. Kandeh also talked about creating a conducive environment for the media. He said journalists will be allowed to do their job without government’s interference.
“I will promote freedom of speech and democracy and Gambians in exile in the diaspora will be free to return home,” he said.
Mr. Kandeh appealed to Gambians to promote peace during the campaign period and on election day. He reaffirmed his party’s commitment to observe a campaign free violence.
