Police in the Gambia have charged twenty four supporters of the opposition APRC, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal.  The three count charges ranges from assault causing bodily harm, prohibition of conduct to the breach of the peace. The incident occurred in Sibanor, where the UDP and APRC supporters clashed. There was significant amount of destruct to property. Some people also sustained injuries during the incident.

Police said over 26 people were arrested. Among them were three women, two prison officers, and one infantry soldier from the Fajara barracks. Two UDP supporters were also arrested.

The two arrested UDP supporters have been charged with criminal trespass, and prohibition of conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.

The accused APRC and UDP supporters are yet to stand trial.
