Another landmine explosion occurred behind Kanilai, the home village of the exiled Gambian dictator Yahya Jammeh, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The incident happened on Tuesday. No causalities were recorded in the latest landmine explosion, which rocked Kanilai and its surrounding villages. The incident prompted a timely security reinforcement in the area.
A team of investigators from the State Intelligence Services (SIS), the police and the army visited the scene of the crime. Army Chief of Defense Staff Masaneh Kinteh also visited the scene of the explosion.
This is the second time, in less than three months, that the region of Foni, has experienced landmine explosions. The first incident claimed the lives of three locals.
