The Gambia will open its 2019 AfCON Qualifier to Benin away in Cotonou on June 11th
19 May, 2017
This will be the Scorpions kick off campaign trail as they poised to reach to the next edition of the Total Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon 2019.
The Scorpions will for the first time in many years face off the Squirrels in a competitive qualifier after they came from a successful training camp in Morocco as part of Coach Sang Ndong’s plans to hone the skills of his charges. This was preceded by a tour of Europe where Scorpions’ technicians scouted new Gambian exploits that show allegiance to the national team. At the Morocco camping, the Scorpions lost one nil to the hosts CHAN team while they sailed over the CAR 2-1 with goals from Modou Barrow and Mustapha Carayol. That also capped off their ten day sojourn in Rabat.
The Gambia’s first leg to Benin away in Cotonou on June 11th will be officiated by a panel of Malian Referees and be commissioned by Yameogo Koudougou David from Burkina Faso.
Scorpions Head Coach Sang Ndong is currently on consultation with his technical staff for a major kick off campaign, bracing up ahead of the first test for the Scorpions in the 2019 Qualifiers.
