KOMBO SOUTH TOURNEY: KARTONG’S DREAM OF TITLE DEFEND IS OVER

Defending champions Kartong village were silent on Friday by surprise package Jambur ending their title dreams of retaining the kombo south district football championship, 2017.
Kartong, a village located at the south Gambian boarder are the winners of the tournament last season when they denied fellow coastal side Tanji village in the game’s final played at Sanyang village.
Prolific player Ernes Gibba was the author on the night who scored the game’s only goal for boarder boys.
Kartong united also called the ‘Folonko’ boys clashed Jambur couple weeks ago in the 2017 tournament’s first quarter finals but controversial of both teams fans denied the game continue to a post-match penalty shootout following a goalless regulation 90 minutes.
In the rematch played on Friday, penalty shootout was the only way that separates the two sides. Eventually Jambur claimed the night.
Now, the semi-finals are scheduled as follow. Jambur village will face ever improving Batokunku side in the first semi-final while Tanji hope entertain Farato village in the other semis.
Batokunku united football is a team described to be avoided this season looking at the team’s asset coach Ebrima Sanyang may have in his disposal.
Like Batokonku, opponents Jambur are also unpredictable in this year’s campaign following their crucial quarter final victory over defending champions Kartong.
The games are adjourned till end of the holy month ‘Ramadan’.
