Gambia’s longtime Inspector General of police Yankuba Sonko, has been redeployed to the Foreign Service, according to Amie Bojang Sissoho, the Director of press at the State House. Ms. Bojang said there has been redeployment of security chiefs and heads of Department in recent time. And IGP Sonko’s redeployment to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was part of the new order. Both Mr. Sonko and his Deputy have been redeployed, she told the press. She also said similar changes occurred at the Immigration Department. Both Immigration Director General Pa Mboob, and his Deputy Landing Jarju have been redeployed. 

Mr. Sonko has been replaced by Landing Kinteh, a career police prosecutor and lawyer. Mr. Kinteh was on a UN assignment in Sudan, before his recent elevation as Inspector General of police.

Veteran police Commissioner Mamour Jobe, has been appointed Deputy Inspector General of police (DIG). Mr. Jobe used to work at the police training school. He was recently moved to the Greater Banjul Area for further assignment.

In another development, the Director General of Gambia’s Immigration Department Pa Mboob, has been redeployed elsewhere in the government. His Deputy Commissioner Landing Jarju, who was named as the acting Director General of the Immigration Department, has since been moved.

Buba Sanyang, AKA Zil Sanyang, the former DG of Immigration has bounced back. Mr. Sanyang, who was dismissed by the former dictator Yahya Jammeh, received his letter of appointment as Immigration DG today from the Personnel Management Office (PMO). He is going to take over from Landing Jarju, sources said. Mr. Sanyang is expected to start work on Monday. 

Meanwhile, the Deputy Immigration Director Landing Jarju, has been redeployed to the Prison Services as Deputy Director. This is the latest news coming from Banjul.
