Another person, has been killed in the Gambia, amid increasing crime rate in the West African country, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. 25-year-old Sabi, lady Amie Koroma, has been accused of killing one Ms. Mbay Sankareh. Sabi, is situated in the Upper River Region of the Gambia. This followed, an altercation between the duo, resulting in the death of Ms. Sankareh.
Efforts were made by the villagers to rush the deceased to the Sabi health center for treatment, where she was seen on arrival by the medical workers. She was later transferred to the Basse Major Health Center, where she was subsequently pronounced death.
The remains of Ms. Sankareh, are currently at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital for postmortem. The cause of her death is yet to be established by doctors.
Police Spokesman Conta, has confirmed the incident to our reporter. He said the incident occurred on Monday June 26th, 2017, at around 17:20 hrs. Conta added that a bitter quarrel ensued between the two ladies; thereby escalating into a violent confrontation; hence resulting in the death Mbaye Sankareh.
According to the police spokesman, the matter is under investigations. Amie Koroma, he said, has been taken into custody, and is helping the police in their investigations.
The Gambia, has witnessed an unprecedented spate of crime in recent months; ranging from gang attack; pick pocketing; rape; and murder. The government has appealed for calm and advised citizens to be law abiding.
