A deadly accident occurred in Ndugu Kebbeh, in the North Bank Region of the Gambia, killing one handicap woman on the spot, leaving many others injured, the Freedom Newspaper can report. The incident occurred on Saturday. A baobab tree fell on top of a vehicle (Gelleh Gelleh), which was loading passengers to be transported to Farafenni, after attending the Ndugu Kebbeh Lumo market. The injured passengers were later rushed a nearby medical center for treatment.
An eyewitness said the handicap woman could not run when the tree fell on the vehicle. Some of the passengers escaped with minor injuries.
Rescue workers were called for help to remove the tree, which was on top of the passenger vehicle. A hacksaw was used to cut the tree, witnesses said.
” People were unable to remove the tree on top of the vehicle. So, they called some people, who used a hacksaw machine to cut down the tree, It was raining at the time of the accident,” said our source.
Police were present immediately after the accident occurred.
