Another batch of top Gambian army officers have been dismissed with immediate effect, the Freedom Newspaper can report. The issue of loyalty to president Adama Barrow and his government might have been responsible for their purging from the army. It has been gathered that over 15 officers believed to be loyal to the former dictator Jammeh have been shown the exit door.

The Freedom Newspaper was able to confirm the removal of the following six officers: Major Lamin Manneh, alias Gilbert, Major Karamba Jammeh, Major Alieu Sowe, Captain Sulayman Jammeh, Captain Abdou Badjie, and Major Gibril Jammeh have been discharged from the force.

Another source also said Edward Jatta, and Lamin Jammeh have been dismissed.

The reason given for their discharge from the army was premised on the powers conferred to the CDS Masaneh Kinteh by section 12(c) of the GAFA Cap 19.01 vol. iv.
