Looking weak, pale, malnourished and confused, Isatou Jammeh, landed at the Banjul International airport over the weekend after returning from a yearlong self-imposed exile in Equatorial Guinea. Ms. Jammeh was a personal maid to the family of dictator Yahya Jammeh. She was staying with Yahya Jammeh in Equatorial Guinea until her sudden home return. She was taken into custody by Gambia’s security forces as soon as she checked in with the Immigration Department at the airport.
From the airport, Isatou Jammeh, was whisked away to the Yundum police station, where she was interviewed by detectives from the police and the State Intelligence Services (SIS). She was later granted bail. Her bail condition requires her to be checking in with the police periodically.
A HIGHLY PLACED source said Ms. Jammeh appeared weak, and homesick. “ She doesn’t look like she was having a good life in Equatorial Guinea. This is evident on her body language and outlook. She is very malnourished. I doubt if she was eating regularly in Equatorial Guinea,” said our source.
Isatou Jammeh is a native of Bakau. She is a sister of Jimbay Jammeh, dictator Yahya Jammeh’s former lead “PROTOCOL officer.” She left her sister behind in Equatorial Guinea.
