” I wish to announce that last week, the Secretary to the Commission, Mr Alhaji Kurang, made a number of unsubstantiated allegations against Counsel Amie Bensouda. Based on information available to me, Mr Kurang acted beyond the confines of his administrative authority which was principally to execute the orders of the Commission and not to question the wisdom or motivations underpinning those orders,” Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou told journalists on Monday during a news conference.

“As a result of his actions, and in consultation with the Commission, Mr Kurang’s position as Secretary to the Commission has now become untenable under the circumstances. We wish to thank him for his service and wish him luck in his future endeavours,” he added.

This followed, a petition he sent to the President’s office accusing Bensouda of interfering in the sale of the dictator’s farming tractors, which Bensouda wanted his son to buy from the Commission. Bensouda’s son was recently elected Mayor.
He also accused Bensouda of colluding with the former dictator, as Bensouda was the  retained Lawyer for some of the prastatals being investigated by the Commission. She serves as Lawyer for the Social Security, Housing Finance Corporation, when Jammeh was busy stealing pensioners funds.
